Don't you think piano exams are cruel?

I mean, they put you in a situation in which you can fail. They stress you a make you practice a lot. I mean, i never had exams (I am a jazz cat, not a traditional pianist) but i've heard a lot of them. Music is something that you are supposed to enjoy. I think that if music becomes stressful (it can be difficult, but not stressful), it's not music, it's torture. That's the point of view of me and all of my jazz cat friends. What do you think? (i think you can be a really good pianist without having traditional exams, like MONK or ERROL GARNER did)
